Book design services
We design books, cover to cover. From cover design, to interior layout and typesetting
What to expect
The creative process will look something like this
-
We start by reading your manuscript
We research your work and genre
Time to meet and brainstorm together (don’t be intimidated by this, we have questions to guide the discussion as we discover the core messages, emotions and purpose behind your work)
-
It’s design time!
We begin to moodboard and sketch ideas for your book cover
We work on complete renderings of the concepts that we feel are the best fit for your story and potential readers (it’s important to keep your reader at the forefront of this whole process as we share these concepts with you)
We complete the cover with your feedback before moving onto your interior layout (the interior will ‘talk to’ the design of the cover and they will work in tandem to tell your story)
-
It’s time to finalize the details and get your book ready for the world to see!
We can help you upload your book on Amazon or choose the right print vendor to bring your story to life.

fleck creative studio creates custom book cover and book interior designs for a variety of formats and genres. We do this by reading your work, using an in-depth design questionnaire, and consulting with you to create a book design that seamlessly aligns with your story. We treat every book as a completely unique project.
-
We often have a waitlist of 3-4 months, so to ensure we have space for your project, we would recommend connecting with us 6-8 months before you would like to launch your book. See below for how long the full design process can take. As a bare minimum, you can reach out to see if we have an opening at least 3 months before you want to launch your book. Availability will depend on the complexity of your book, which services you need, and whether or not you plan to print your own copies versus using a print on demand service like Ingram Spark or Kindle Direct Publishing.
-
The design process can begin after you’ve written your first draft of your manuscript. Your first draft will give us enough information to get started on your book cover design while your book is being edited. This way, when your book is finished being edited and is ready for layout, your cover will be done, and we will be ready to get started on creating your book interior. While the interior layout is being created, you can start promoting your book with your final cover design.

Each book is unique and takes a different amount of time. Many authors underestimate the amount of time they would like to review design options, or how much time in their day they will be able to devote to reviewing proofreading edits. We work with you to build a schedule that bakes in your review time. For a cover only project, it can be done within a month or up to 2 months. For a book interior layout including time for professional proofreading and multiple rounds of edits, 2-3 months is required depending on the book’s complexity. A book design with cover and interior layout can then take anywhere from 3-5 months and longer if a particular author or proofreader needs more time to review.
-
We quote each book on a project by project basis due to varying complexity and author needs. Click here to reach out to us for a free discovery call where we can get to know your project and provide an accurate estimate for our services.

We don’t do quick cookie cutter designs. Each cover and interior is a unique and bespoke project that we immerse ourselves into, in order to really understand and connect with the work. We tend not to take on quick turnaround projects because it doesn’t give us adequate time to do your story justice and read through your work. If you just want a quick stock photo cover, we’re not for you.
Why fleck?
In order to design your book, we need to read your book. It’s the only way for us to understand you and your story. It gives us a sense of the voice and tone of the story, as well as the settings, locations, time periods and characters. These details, as well as any important symbols, colours, objects, and metaphors may make for a compelling cover design.
By reading your manuscript, we can come up with something that your audience will love, something that will jump off digital and actual bookshelves alike.
Our dedication to your manuscript and attention to detail sets us apart
